I’m David Fleet.
I’m a photographer, writer and father.
For most of my life I thought photography was about making beautiful pictures.
The older I get, the less I believe that.
Today I’m interested in something else:
Time.
How it changes people.
How it changes places.
How it changes us.
My daughters are growing up.
I lost my father.
My mother is getting older.
And photography has become my way of paying attention before moments disappear.
The projects on this website are my attempt to understand those things.
Not through words alone, but through photographs.
A Life In Progress
This website isn’t a portfolio.
It’s a record of a life in progress.
The projects here will take years to complete.
Some may never be finished.
But that’s part of the point.
Photography has become my way of paying attention before moments disappear.
Come with me while I make them.
Through essays, field notes, project updates and occasional emails, I’ll share the work as it unfolds.
